Berbatov Has Interest In Monaco Move

Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov has been playing for Monaco in the last few months. He is on loan from the Premier league outfit until the end of the season. However, 33 years of age, it is highly likely that he has last played for Fulham. Meanwhile, Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri has stated that the Bulgarian is ready to extend his stay with the French club. The club, which are now bankrolled by a Russian billionaire, are expected to make a substantial offer for the player in the summer.

During his time in England, Berbatov represented the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United before moving to Fulham a couple of years ago. His first season at Fulham was extremely good, but the departure of Martin Jol in the summer has been followed by a series of poor performances. This has led to the club taking a decision on striker and allowing him to leave on a loan deal. In the absence of Radamel Falcao, who is currently nursing a long-term injury, Berbatov has been able to start most matches for the French club, as they target a return to Champions League.

After scoring two goals in the last seven matches for the club, Ranieri says that Berbatov is now ready to stay at Monaco.

“I don’t know if he has become number one at Monaco but he is playing, scoring and getting assists. Some show more fighting spirit in challenges but he is working more than before. He is important to us and I believe he wants to stay but we will talk about that later,” said the former Chelsea manager. He made just over 50 appearances for Fulham in the last two seasons and has scored 20 goals. His best period in English football came with Tottenham where he scored lots of goals.
